Gov. Rick Perry tweeted his Twitter followers today that a radio spot bashing California and boasting about Texas began hitting the airwaves today in CA. The idea is to encourage California businesses to move to Texas. The ad opens with Perry saying, Building a business is tough. But I hear building a business in California is next to impossible. The governor invites folks in the Golden State to check the governors web site Texas Open for Business to get the low down on Perrys pitch. The governor made particular mention of the states benefits as low taxes, sensible regulation and a legal system that limits the ability sue businesses when someone is injured or killed.
Perrys office says the 30-second spot will run for a week on six radio stations in the San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Inland Empire and San Diego media markets. The buy is is being paid for by TexasOne, a fund underwritten by large corporations and consultants that pays for Perrys corporate recruitment trips. Perry has made bashing California a cottage industry in recent years. Rising taxes, budget problems and the exodus of residents to other states, including Texas, has allowed Perry to highlight the advantages of a low-tax, low-services state compared with California. Last month, Gov. Jerry Brown declared that after several years of economic turmoil, Californias budget deficit has vanished thanks to new taxes and spending cuts.

I recall hearing something recently that California is creating as many new businesses as Texas. Could the governor be buying into some right-wing bullshit?

(61,695 posts)what I've read. I don't know all of the reasons why, but maybe having an educated workforce has something to do with it.
Perry doesn't understand that the Bottom Line is also affected by quality of employees, not just how much they can avoid in taxes.
