In the last election l received my 'early voting' ballot by mail the day AFTER the election. It had to be postmarked no later than election day.
Today about noon I got my application for mail in ballot. It has to be postmarked not later than today. So I had about 4 hours to fill it out and get it to the post office.
Shit, if I could just drop everything and run to the PO at the last minute I wouldn't need the fucking mail in ballot.

(10,011 posts)Recently, I needed to send a letter-sized package with 2-day delivery. USPS charges $26.95 for this service. But since I no longer trust the delivery times of USPSit took a week longer than promised for a package in early DecemberI went to UPS and had to pay $40 for the same 2-day delivery, and it arrived on time. I would have preferred using the Postal Service, but DeJoy has made it unreliable. Prior to DeJoy, I used the USPS frequently to mail small packages and never had an issue. If thousands of people around the country now refuse to use USPS, think of the financial lossesall because a man who should have been fired long ago is still trying to make the USPS perform so poorly that no one wants to use it anymore. Then Republicans can argue for privatizing it, which they will likely do if they take power again in 2024. Every rural post office will be closed and replace with a machineno humans to help mail anything,

Conservatism is not compatible with democracy. There is no middle road regarding this.

(2,739 posts)If so, you have more time than you think. The application to vote by mail has to be received by the Elections Office by closing time on February 18.
Today's deadline was that last day to register to vote in the March 1 Primary Election and those applications had to be received today, I believe. In the past as long as they were postmarked today they would be okay. Certified Voter Deputy Registrars (VDRs) can register voters through today and submit the forms by hand delivery to the Elections Office today.
I'm an LWV VDR in my county and spent a couple of hours registering voters this afternoon.
