Life in Red Hell: Having Fun with the LaRouchies

About two months ago I posted a thread about the LaRouche supporters at the Brenham post office and included some photos that my brother had taken. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10784982

Today, I rode with my brother to the post office since he needed someone to keep the truck running because he is having some quirky problems with the truck starter. When we drove into the parking lot, I rolled down the window and yelled, "Go Obama!" and the two people at the table were laughing as my brother parked his vehicle.

I was in a confrontational mood today, so I decided to give them some razzing. I made some remarks about their exercise in futility since 1) there aren't any valid reasons for impeachment and 2) there is no way that they will get the 2/3 majority in the Senate that is necessary to impeach the president. Of course, they didn't want to admit that they were wasting their time and I will admit that they were cordial as I laughed back at them. I also told them that I posted the photos shown in the above-mentioned thread and they seemed ecstatic that they received so much attention. Bless their hearts!

Before I left the post office I asked them if they wanted to pose for pictures near their table and they were willing. However, while taking the photos the funniest remark came from the lady in the picture who told me to hurry up and snap the photos--like they actually were doing besides wasting time making a futile protest.

I was courteous with them and asked if either of them had an e-mail address so I could send them the photos, but they didn't respond. Gosh darn!

Meanwhile, being the nice guy that I am, I made certain to wave to the nuts when we drove away from the post office.

So here for the enjoyment for my friends at DU are my photos from the Brenham, Texas post office. Please forgive the quality of the photos since they were taken from a cell phone.

I didn't grow up here, but I do find a certain amount of comfort in mocking the stupid.

It was a fine place to grow up as a child, but I couldn't live there now.

4. True story. In 2003, I was a naive high school kid...

I didn't know much about the LaRouchies and was at an anti-war protest in downtown Salt Lake. This sweet old lady came up to me and started talking to me about the upcoming presidential election (and Democratic primary). I was just starting to support Howard Dean (even though I couldn't vote) and she mentioned Lyndon LaRouche as an alternative. I hadn't known who he was, and she proceeded to tell me he was an FDR Democrat. Well, dammit if that didn't sound good!

We spoke for a bit and then eventually, she had me take home some literature. No big deal. She then asked me to sign up for more information. That was a big deal.

When I got home, I was speaking with my grandma and asked if she knew who Lyndon LaRouche was...she rolled her eyes and then basically tore him down as a fucking nut and his supporters nuts. Well, little ol' me, naive little Drunken, didn't know any better and wouldn't you believe it - I had given out our home phone number to these loons.

Six years later, they still called my house every few weeks to ask if I wanted to attend one of their meetings. I would tell them every time I was not interested and to stop calling ... but they never did. Even today, though I don't live in that house anymore, my mom still receives phone calls from 'em. Needless to say, my mom has never let me forget that.

Bunch of crazies.

5. I live in same Cong. District as Keisha Rogers
Fri Feb 8, 2013, 07:44 PM
Feb 2013

The LaRouchies have found a young African American lady named Keisha Rogers who has run for the Democratic nomination to run against Pete Olson for Congress both in 2010 and 2012. In 2012, we had a candidate who did nothing to campaign against Keisha but the local Democratic Party in Fort Bend County help keep Keisha under 40% in Fort Bend County but she won in Harris County and Wharton County. If the real democratic candidate had actually been out on election day and passed out cards instead of staying home to rest for his speech, he may have won. The party still has a large number of signs that he never distributed to Wharton and Harris Counties.

I have met Keisha a couple of times and she spoke to the Fort Bend County Executive Committee when we did the ballot draw for the 2012 primary. Keisha and the LaRouchies had a major rally for this event which meant that they had six people plus Keisha attend this event. None of Keisha's supporters were precinct chairs and so they really did not have much to say.

If you want to have fun with LaRouches ask them about the time that LaRouch spent in prison for credit card fraud. The LaRouchies really do not want to talk about the time that LaRouch spent in prison. One of LaRouch's cell mates was Jim Bakker.

CD22 is a R+13 PVI district and so it is difficult to get any one to run in this race. Keisha broke 30% of the general election vote this time around which is better than the 29% she got in 2010.

12. The look on the LaRouchies' faces is priceless

I love the way that the LaRouchies look at me when I bring up LaRouches' prison time.

On some board, I remember seeing LaRouches' prison number. I remember something to the effect that the LaRouchies know this number and do like people bringing it up because it is disrespectful to Lyndon LaRouche. I have not been able to find that number but if I get that prison number I am going to make up some buttons (I have my own button machine) and pass them out for people to wear in front of the LaRouchies. I can even have a contest with my local clubs to see who has the best design but I willing to bet that Susan Bankston (aka Juanita Jean) will win. If anyone on this board can find that prison number, I will make and send them some buttons with this number.

....... those who make stupid threats aren't likely the ones who will carry them out.

And don't bother contacting the sheriff's office....... they won't do squat!

Fortunately, they have no clue as to my name or where I live so they will be as frustrated on that account as they are frustrated as Barack Obama is president.

11. We ignore them at the Texas State Democratic Convention.

They have their tables and their propaganda, but all the delegates and alternates ignore them. Put our hands up to shield our faces as we walk by. I saw it at the 1980 state convention and every one since then.

We hope if we ignore them they'll go away. But they never do, dammit!!

They probably don't want to be reminded that their Dear Leader was in Club Fed for tax evasion & other sleazeosity.

13. Keisha spoke to a couple of groups at the state convention

I was at the state convention and I saw her wandering around and I saw their booth outside on the street in front of the convention. Keisha did get to speak to the labor caucus and tried to speak to another caucus before she was thrown out.

Keisha did not try to be a delegate to the state convention (I was the chair of the nominating committee for SD 18 for Fort Bend County) but she showed up anyway.

He was a great character. Always wore a bunch of crazy buttons he made. His memorial service was at the First Unitarian Church and was great fun. His son is a deputy constable.

Being a family of lawyers, we took the rules for running for office for Junior Statesmen of America seriously and so we bought our own button machine to make buttons for my middle child when she ran for statewide office. I have kept the machine and have had fun making buttons. I was wearing a decent assortment of buttons at the State Convention back in June.

I have some voter protection buttons that were done by the Obama staff in Austin back in 2008. The Obama graphic art techies spelled "Counsel" three different ways before I got a good template for my "Counsel for Change" buttons that I gave out to all of the lawyers who worked on voter protection operations.

I like making buttons but it appears that I will have to send my machine in for some adjustments before the next election cycle.

19. We have two different workshops coming up
Sun Feb 10, 2013, 10:29 AM
Feb 2013

A couple of the county party people have a workshop or retreat on Feb 23 with some unknown speakers. When you try to RSVP by going to the link, you get a excell spreadsheet.

The state party is having a workshop on March 16 that will have Glen Maxey, the head of the VAN, Chairman Hinojosa and hopefully the executive director of the state party.

I plan to go to both workshops and will have some buttons and will have some buttons

Restore Glass-Steagall? Great idea.

Stop WW III by impeaching Obama. Isn't it possible that Obama could lead us into WW III with Chinese?

I don't know what NAWAPA is so I don't know if I could support that.

But, as Meatloaf reminded us, ....

16. Glass-Steagall restoration--okay, both sides were wrong about that.

Community banking and investment banking are like oil and water.

North American Water and Power Alliance (NAWAPA) is a program to bring water from Alaska to Mexico. LaRouche compares it to other large infrastructure projects typified by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Virtually every state will oppose that program as an infringement on their rights guaranteed by the 10th amendment.

I guess that it is possible for any president to lead us into WW III with the Chinese. However, I am unaware of any push by the Obama administration to take this course of action and I doubt that the Chinese are willing to risk offending one of their largest customer bases.
