Do stay as hydrated as you can. Sit in your tub with cool water and wet towels. Make sure you eat.

When we had a power outage that lasted 3 days, my husband bought several blocks of dry ice to keep things in the fridge and freezer cold. Being that we have natural gas, I was able to cook. We used hand fans to keep from getting overheated. Candle light for night. This happened in the middle of summer a number of years ago. It can get mighty hot and humid in Minnesota in July.

We used to live in a hot climate with no air conditioning.

Hurricane Floyd without power in the sweltering heat and humidity. I eventually just put on my swimsuit, dragged my chaise into the front yard and waved at the Marines going back and forth in their amphibious vehicles.

Because I live on a hill, my property essentially became an island. I was trapped until the water receded but I was fine.*

They were doing river rescues of those who refused to evacuate and were trapped on their roofs by the rising water. They looked so miserable in their camouflage in the oppressive heat.

Picture swimming snakes, floating dead turkeys, pigs and chickens followed by hills of fire ants, floating hills. Then came the mosquitoes. It was a very long week.

i feel for ya. Can you get out of the state? I'm very glad I don't live there. Bad enough where I do live which is NC, but services have been maintained well at least and we have a Democratic governor.

We're up in WA about 20 miles from the border. Run our farm, complete with three 22 cu ft chest freezers on 6400 watts of panels, 10k watts of inverter, and a couple of repurposed Nissan Leaf battery packs. Set us back about $20k but being off the grid has been a great experience.

Totalitarian HOA zealot hell/hood has solar on it, and she hates me as it is. I poked around on the generac site but those are $10,000 and up, after electrical and gas install. I want out of here as soon as I can retire, so I’m as interested in the value added at resale as the cost. We still have rest of July and “Satan’s bowels” August/ September yet to go so something’s gotta give.

Up heah in northern New England the summers have been progressively hotter and more humid. Window A/C was only needed a few days per year. Now many people (that can afford it) are putting in heat pumps and trying to close up their houses. This isn't the normal New England way.

The northeast is one of my possible “flee to” regions though.

I do not trust Greg Abbott or Dan Patrick to keep the grid up

We have lost power for short period of time since the generator was installed and so far it has worked. It only took 14 months to get this in.

It was not fully operational until May and there is still one part that they want to add to the AC unit that is still not installed
