Looks like Ken Paxton is going to be acquitted

He has been acquitted on the first three articles so far. All by a 14-16 vote. Needs 21 votes for conviction. Only 2 Republicans are voting with the Democrats. And they’ll probably lose their seats next election.

They just voted on article 5 and if I was 17 -13 which means five Republicans voted with the Democrats and we need nine.

And I've been defending my fucking state for a couple of decades, here at DU. This Paxton matter may end all that.

so I'm curious to see what this does to the Collin County GOP. (Paxton's home county and mine, too.)

And what this probably means for their law career in Texas. Most of them were at one one time very devoted to Paxton, very religious, and still are very loyal Republicans.

I live here. I’m not at all shocked or surprised.

I moved here from Missouri—a slightly less bad dystopian fascist state. So, not a native.

Texas has always been a national joke when it comes to the insane corruption of its politics.

This is more of the same.
