Saw a post a few days ago about a member from Texas

Who is leaving DU because of the constant Texas-bashing by a group of people here who clearly don’t think that we are a big-tent party that needs to grow in every state and want to stamp out any opinion that slightly disagrees. I can’t find the post now but wanted to tell him/her to ignore those idiots. They are counterproductive and just feed into the story Republicans peddle that Democrats are elitist and unwelcoming.

I wouldn't have lasted 22 days if I'd cratered to the non-stop Texas bashing from self-satisfied Blue Staters. Ignore them and their hateful words, make an effort to explain how many frustrated but hopeful Democrats reside in the state, tell them to get fucked---but whatever you do, don't hand them a victory by just giving up and leaving. The last thing we need at this point in time is timid Democrats.

It is hard enough living in a sea of red to have to keep getting bashed by blue state democrats. I don’t like the fact that I live in the reddest congressional district in the US but I do know demographics mainly the younger voters will turn us blue someday. I hope I live to see it.

I hear a lot of Florida bashing. (see above comment and I don't live in a trailer) But, I'm not going to let that spoil anything. DU has been a safe haven for me since W was unlawfully appointed president by the "supreme" court. I'm not going anywhere unless I get tombstoned and even then, I'll be back.

Moved out shortly after, but I still have liberal relatives there.

States are illusory groupings, political playing fields. Good and bad mixed up everywhere. I’ve met well-educated liberals in the worst counties, and the worst trumpheads in my own hyper-liberal California college town.

Never too late to try. Sometimes human contact can change everything, if you have the patience and courage for it.

about 3/4 of a mile from CHI-St. Joseph's hospital which is probably where you were born. So there is at least one liberal roaming around the old stomping grounds.

I have relatives in Houston and San Antonio, good people. But I’ve met the other kind.

Small towns can be havens or hell, depending on your neighbors.

For Democrats. Both are larger states.
The percentages of D to R votes in the 2020 election for those states were close, 2-3 percentage points.

Texas: 52.06 (R) 46.48 (D) approx 432,000 votes
Florida: 51.22 (R) 47.86 (D) approx 400,000 votes

I have family in Texas and Florida. I hear from both that their state isn't as red as folks think and also not as red as the 10 states that voted for tfg with over 60%. They both believe their state can turn blue with some extra effort.

I'm in NC and tfg won here with less than 50%, 49.93 (R) 48.59 (D), approx 90,000 votes.
I'm disappointed in my state, feel sorry for my family in TX and FL. I don't bash them, but we all agree we live in red zones, with the possibility of turning blue.

There is reason to hope, given that younger people are concerned and motivated to vote, and a lot of older and unhealthy cult 45 members are dying off or will die before the next election.

It was Southern Democrat, then transition, then Republican.
I moved here in the early 80's and it was transitioning. It was back and forth. At the end, we had Richards, But the red undercurrent was very strong underneath her.

There is not a lot I like about the place anymore. I consider it the new Mississippi.

I used to think we would reject this extremism but instead it has just gotten worse.
