Texas Republicans' Hard Right Turn

Election Aftermath: The radical transformation of Texas' Republican Party.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/texas-republicans-hard-right-turn

I’ve been watching the Texas Legislature for over a decade, and while I have seen a few knock-down-drag-out Republican primary races in Texas, nothing prepared me for the bloodbath we saw last night.

Nine Incumbent Republican House members lost their seats. Eight more incumbent Republicans were forced into runoffs.

Moreover, the Republicans running against the incumbents are further right: Christian Nationalists, bigoted, homophobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, and, in many cases, criminals.

Potentially, in May, we may have 17 brand-spanking new fascists in the Texas House, ready to write laws to control your life, body, freedom, and pursuit of happiness.

Republicans that didn't vote for his voucher plan and also AG Paxton vowed to go after Republicans that tried to impeach him. So like everywhere else the GOP extremists are going after anyone that disagrees with them.

While this is not unusual for one party to attack members of the other party - the GOP party infighting is rather rare.

These folks.....The GOP.... are some nasty bastards by any measure and obviously the voters support the extremists...at least here in Texas.

We have not had a Democrat elected for a Statewide election in over 30 years - which is a record of the US. Hopefully this will be the year....☮

Abbott pushing for school choice by supporting primary challengers to GOP legislators who voted against his voucher bill.

Paxton supporting challengers to GOP legislators who voted to impeach him. Also supported challengers to GOP Texas Supreme Court to replace them with more compliant judges. Possibly since he made need to appeal his possible securities fraud conviction and potential bribery indictment.

Patrick, just wants more power. GOP Speaker of the House now in a primary run off .

They all just want to wield supreme executive power.
