'Lady Liberty' jailed in Fort Worth, accused of resisting arrest

FORT WORTH -- Lady Liberty was apparently not acting very lady-like.

A 19-year-old man dressed as the Statue of Liberty to drum up work for a local tax business was shocked with a Taser and arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly refused orders to leave a roadway median, then resisted arrest.

Channing Dontray Gould of Fort Worth was wearing a light green robe and Statue of Liberty headdress when Fort Worth police Officer R.T. Greer spotted him dancing in the median of the 4800 block of North Tarrant Parkway about 2 p.m.

Noting that Gould was distracting the traffic flow, the officer told him three times over his patrol car's public address system to leave the median. Gould ignored the command, then waved him off, according to a police report.

It's sad that someone has to degrade themselves to make a living, then something like this occurs. It was a foolish decision not to obey the police officer, but he will probably lose his job and have a criminal record along with fines to pay.

His behavior sounds erratic. Or perhaps his boss told him to work from there and he was maintaining his position as ordered. In any case his behavior seems a bit odd. I hope he is ok and all goes as well as it can.

That's why it's degrading.

But, I have never seen any playing in a median or that seemed belligerent. Talked to a couple of them and they didn't say they hated their job, but I was pretty sure they did, especially when it got cold. Anyway, I wouldn't say he had to have been on drugs. I have never seen someone doing the sign thing for any company that I thought was on drugs no matter how they have acted. I just think it is possible in this case.

jailed all rapists, investigated and closed all robberies, so that they can concentrate on this.
