Arlington officer accused of tipping off steroid dealer, supplying other officers

A 17-year Arlington police veteran accessed law enforcement-only databases to unlawfully tip off a steroid dealer from whom he had been buying steroids for himself and other officers for several years, according to federal documents released Wednesday.

Thomas S. Kantzos, 45, was arrested Tuesday by the FBI, the same day that David Vo, another officer under investigation, committed suicide.

Kantzos, who remains in federal custody, made an initial appearance in federal court in Dallas this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Paul D. Stickney. He was ordered to be released on pretrial supervision with certain conditions. Wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, Kantzos was told that he must give up his weapons, law enforcement license and passport and refrain from taking drugs.

Kantzos is charged with unlawfully providing sensitive information by exceeding authorized access to a protected computer.

I wonder if he is getting the additional salt and sugar necessary to mitigate the effects of steroid withdrawal, particularly if his adrenal gland is no longer functioning normally.

It's also scary for the public at large knowing that there are police officers that may over-react due to roid rage.

I've said it before but never quite got the fuse lit-police abuse of steroids is a HUGE problem in this country. Go to an event with the police force on display and every Podunk police force will have at least a half dozen buzz-cut mirrored sunglassed clones with 50+ inch chests and biceps larger than most men's thighs.

Don't tell me this is just because they eat healthy and work out-the fire department my brother worked on had a dozen guys who actually did that-when a rookie came on board who had won a body-building competition in the largest city in the state, they looked like hamburger next to prime-rib, and yes the rookie hinted that "they" all did it.

I've often wondered what an otherwise law-abiding citizens think as they are arrested for smoking grass and see their life ruined by two steroid shooting freaks who were tested and then appointed to enforce the law when their all more open contempt FOR the law is on open display.

And I wonder why congress chases baseball players instead of steroid freaks who take an oath to uphold the law and then violate it and turn their drug induced rage on the citizens of this country? Because we can test welfare recipients with no obvious signs of abuse to cut support to them, but cops with 30" biceps draw no notice?
