State Sen. Creigh Deeds was feeding his horses when his son, Austin Gus Deeds approached him from behind.
I said, Hey, bud howd you sleep, Deeds, of Bath County, told Scott Pelley in an interview for CBS 60 Minutes program recently. He said, Fine.
Then, suddenly, Deeds said, he was just, um, on me. He got me twice.
....
The interview will air at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The interview was wrapped around a story regarding a push in the state of VA for expanding the time a mental patient can be held, from six hours to 24, in order to secure a bed in a psych facility for them.

ETA: yeah, the son went for his father's face. Darn shame - such a promising life ahead of him, and then his mind is taken over.

Still tragic about the son. You think what might have been, had he been able to receive help. Might nothing could have stopped him. We'll never know now.

(8,434 posts)For years I've found their reporting questionable at times. That Benghazi story sealed it for me though.
I grew up watching 60 minutes too. I had to watch it Sunday night if i wanted to watch Dukes of Hazard afterward. I feel I learned a lot about politics from it, but now I no longer trust the reporting at all.
