BLACKSBURG, Va. — Law enforcement officials on Sunday announced the arrest of a second Virginia Tech student in the abduction and death of a 13-year-old Blacksburg girl.

Blacksburg Police Lt. Mike Albert said that Natalie Marie Keepers, 19 of Laurel, Md., was arrested on felony charges Sunday morning for helping to dispose of the remains of Nicole Madison Lovell, whose body was found just across the North Carolina border in Surry County.

Albert said that Keepers, who was arrested off campus, also was charged with a misdemeanor for her accessory role in the crime after Virginia Tech student David Eisenhauer allegedly abducted and killed the 13 year-old.

Eisenhauer and Keepers, who are both general engineering students at Virginia Tech, are being held without bond at the Montgomery County, Va., jail.

BLACKSBURG, VA.— A preliminary investigation has concluded a 13-year-old Blacksburg, Va. girl was stabbed to death and she likely died on Jan. 27, the day she went missing from her home, a prosecutor said at a Tuesday news conference.

Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary Petit also announced an additional count against one of the Virginia Tech students charged in connection with the death of Nicole Lovell.

Natalie Keepers, 19, of Laurel, Md. has also been charged with accessory before the fact to first-degree murder, which carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. She had previously been charged with concealing Lovell’s body and a misdemeanor accessory after the fact count.

But many questions remain about the case even after the press conference in Blacksburg. Police have not said what happened to Lovell after she disappeared from her home or revealed a motive for the slaying. They have not detailed exactly how Eisenhauer met Lovell or the nature of their relationship. ... Weeks said police told her Eisenhauer and Lovell met online, and that Eisenhauer used his relationship with Lovell to abduct and kill her.
