Aldi to build distribution center and establish divisional headquarters in Dinwiddie County

No-frills German grocery retailer Aldi is planning to establish a divisional headquarters and build a 500,000-square-foot distribution center in Dinwiddie County.

Virginia successfully competed against North Carolina for the $57 million project, which will create 145 new jobs, Gov. Terry McAuliffe's office said today.

Aldi has opened seven stores in the Richmond region in the past year, and has plans for at least two more.

The chain has 32 stores in Virginia with plans to open up to 60 additional locations across the state in the next five years.

An Aldi opened near me three weeks ago. I go there about once a week now. Great prices, but it has almost no brands that are not house brands.

I sometimes think if I'm not there at least once a week, the employees will start slapping my photo on the milk cartons.

Great prices on the everyday stuff, and always something interesting that they get in on special. Which I've learned to buy IMMEDIATELY, if I want it because their specials never last for long.
