Man who filed $95M lawsuit in Chesterfield taser shooting guilty of eluding police, driving drunk

A Richmond man who filed a $95 million lawsuit after nearly burning to death in a police Taser shooting pleaded guilty Thursday to drunken driving and eluding police in a 100 mph pursuit that ended with him crashing and being shot with the electrical weapon.

A day after he was released from the hospital following a setback related to his burns, Miles November, 27, pleaded guilty in Chesterfield County Circuit Court to three of the four charges against him, including driving on a suspended license. He faces up to seven years in prison on those charges.

The fourth charge, felony assault of police officer, will be tried separately on Nov. 29.

That charge relates to the Taser incident, in which a Chesterfield police officer shot November with the weapon — inadvertently igniting his clothes — when police said he became combative and punched another officer in the face after crashing and being pulled from the wreckage. His clothing came in contact with spilled gasoline after his car overturned multiple times.
