Alt-righters found guilty of failing to disperse

It continues ...

Charlottesville, Cville.com 10/13/17

Police had to intervene after an October 13 court hearing where three white nationalists were found guilty of failure to disperse during the Unite the Right rally, and then were chased into a nearby parking garage by people waiting for them outside the courthouse.

...

Judge Robert Downer found all three men guilty of the class one misdemeanor, and fined Damigo and Struys $200. McLaren, who was “cordial” with police, was ordered to fork over $100.

The three have appealed the charges and will appear on the December docket call in Charlottesville Circuit Court, according to prosecutor Antony.

I'd bet they were a lot more than $200.

My acquaintance Jay, who was falsely accused of assault by Kessler, had costs of over $3,000. He did incur expense getting Kessler convicted of perjury as well.

Kessler got 50 hours of community service. That, to me, seems light for having someone arrested through a lie.

Edit to add. A go fund me took care of Jay, reached its goal last night.

Someone else had to set up the page and twist his arm.

Here's what Jay said:

"So THIS happened. I don't really have words to describe how I feel right now, other than THANKS! A better, "official" Thank You is forthcoming. The goal was reached and exceeded so STOP! If you have extra cash share it with someone who needs it more than I do right now. I will ask for a couple of favors though. In addition to giving to me I ask that you think before you speak to another and consider their struggles. Please strike up a conversation with a stranger. Speak to them as you would want to be spoken to. Even if you clearly don't agree with their world view. If they are having a bad day can you help them in some way, even if it is just to make them smile for a minute. Those people you hold close, tell them. Question authority. Question yourself. Go see some live theater."

We like him a lot.

When I knew better from your post - you were clear. My mistake taking a misleading shortcut.

You gave me a chance to brag on a local I like a lot, which was the reason I pointed out that he didn't ask and gave me a segue to quote him.

I'm not so sure I would be so nice after what he went through.
