It does not even include the tornado watches and warnings that are likely to blossom later day in the lower Mississippi River valley.

(The beige color over us is a special weather statement about enhanced fire danger -- which is also why northern West Virginia is under a more serious red flag warning. On Thursday, that covered much of northern Virginia, too, and there were some sporadic wildfires)

This storm system is coming our way. As the low-pressure center tracks to our north, a wall of heavy rain and thunderstorms will push our way ahead of a cold front by late Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. There is a marginal risk of severe storms -- mostly for strong winds -- with a more serious chance in the Carolinas where instability will be stronger.

But not today (Friday) or Saturday. These will be sunny, warm days with highs in the 70s to near 80 as the deepening low in the central U.S. pulls warmth over us from the south and southwest.

Looks like we dodged a bullet. Winds were low overnight. The fire started yesterday.

UPDATE 04/13/2018 8:53 a.m: According to Albemarle County, "the Green Creek Road fire is fully contained. The final size is estimated to be approximately 300 acres. The Virginia Department of Forestry is on scene working with local units to address any remaining hot spots. The evacuation of the area has been lifted. No injuries occurred as a result of this fire."
