Barack Obama Elementary in Richmond

Just got this email...

Dear Duppers,

I wanted to make sure you saw this incredible news coming out of Richmond. Last night, the Richmond School Board voted to rename J.E.B. Stuart Elementary to Barack Obama Elementary.

As we celebrate Juneteenth today, we do so with the knowledge that Richmond, the former Capital of the Confederacy, will no longer have a school named after a Confederate general. More importantly this name change is more than just a symbolic gesture. In a school where over 80% of the students are African-American, this change will give them a modern day role model for them to look up to and learn from.

The progress that we are making in Richmond is evident everyday when I travel around the city and it is because of you that we are able to make that happen. Together we can build One Richmond!

Thank You,
Levar Stoney
Mayor of Richmond

Memorial statues, Confederate named schools, highways and public places should end.

Of this crap, I ask "do we see memorials to Hitler and the Nazis in Germany today?" Why should these traitors be memorialized?

Thanks, AB.
