Congressmans office says staffers accused of participating in forgery scandal are no longer with the campaignA spokesman for U.S. Rep. Scott Taylor, a Virginia Beach Republican, says the campaign staffers who were accused of forging signatures to get a third-party candidate on the ballot are gone.
None of the people accused of any wrongdoing is working with the campaign, Taylors spokesman, Scott Weldon told The Mercury.
Talking Points Memo reported last week that recent campaign finance reports show four of the 2nd District congressmans staffers who were named in civil court proceedings got paid as recently as mid-September. The recent reports only require disclosures up to Sept. 30.
But while Weldon said Taylors campaign has cleaned house, he would not provide any other details or confirm staffers by name, citing an ongoing criminal investigation into the forged signatures.

(22,133 posts)things such as this, who then disappear. Wonder where else they have worked (and in what campaigns) and any sign ups they have worked on before in their careers should be examined for voter fraud, which if true that they've participated in voter fraud, they should have the book thrown at them as the republicans are so fond of claiming in every election cycle.

Of course, the Republican does not want to take responsibility and wants to sue the Democrats.

(112,242 posts)Earlier today, Rep. Scott Taylor (R-VA02) and Democratic nominee Elaine Luria debated at a forum sponsored by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. For the most part, not a lot jumped out at me, certainly nothing unexpected, with the possible exception of the following exchange on Taylors Petitiongate fraud scandal. Check out the video clip, below, as Taylor whines about being called out for what a judge called out-and-out fraud in signatures Taylors campaign staff gathered to help get an independent spoiler candidate on the ballot. Instead of taking responsibility, Taylor claimed you can only be attacked so much before you got to hit back, when of course its not an attack to state the TRUTH, in this case about his own campaigns Petitiongate scandal. Taylor then threatened, absurdly, that he would sue following the campaign for what he claims are defamatory ads, that they have rose (yeah, English isnt Taylors strong suit try have risen, dude) above the level of being knowingly false with malicious intent. Taylor then segued into the standard Republican, knee-jerk instinct to mention the name of Nancy Pelosi. And Taylor blustered that you better turn me in and get a reward, Im right here, if you think hes guilty. In other words, Taylor has ZERO substantive response to his own campaigns scandal.
As for Elaine, Luria, she responded to Taylors whining, bluster and threats by stating a few facts: 1) that Taylors campaign absolutely did forge peoples signatures to get a third-party candidate on the ballot and that Taylor has not taken that seriously; 2) that Taylor did NOT remove staffers immediately as he promised, but kept paying them for an entire quarter; 3) that Taylors campaign has been very negative, for instance depicting Luria dancing around in a tiara as a puppet I am not a puppet and I never will be a puppet; 4) that Taylor referred to the Petitiongate scandal as a nothingburger, which is not the kind of language shed expect her elected representative to use, but maybe the type of language shed expect from a 9-year-old fourth grader; 5) that, in fact, by expert testimony before a judge in Richmond, the four staffers were found to be engaged in out-and-out fraud.'

(22,133 posts)pretty loaded the guns on numerous lies and mistruths in his campaign. All of us have to be on alert and watch out for this type of stuff. It seems like the election laws are not (if they exist) enforced when and if a candidate for office lies and lies repeatedly. So big money and lies seemed to have taken over the election cycle.
Thanks for providing info. on Elaine. I've had read about the forged signatures but didn't know the hypocrisy of the republican candidate and his staffers in this whole mess.
