3 Weekend Laser Pointer Incidents Involving Planes Near Sea-Tac

SEATTLE, WA — Investigators are looking into two laser incidents Friday night, and a third Sunday evening, involving planes approaching Sea-Tac Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA said the first incident involved a Boeing 737 traveling from Hawaii to Seattle. Pilots reported a green and white laster illuminating the aircraft while flying south of Olympia.

The second incident was reported at 11:30 p.m. Friday after a Boeing 737-800 flying to Seattle from Salt Lake City was illuminated by a blue laser 13 miles southeast of Seattle. The FAA said a third incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when pilots flying a Boeing 737-900 south of Seattle reported a blue laser on the left side of the aircraft.

Authorities in the areas where the laser strikes were reported will investigate, but no other details were immediately known.
