Initiative 976 sponsor Tim Eyman has urged Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson to ask a judge to reconsider an injunction against the initiative before appealing to the State Supreme Court.
Eyman sent Ferguson a strongly worded letter Thursday asking him to file a motion for reconsideration so Ferguson could make additional arguments in favor of I-976, which slashes car-tab fees to $30.
The judge wasnt given the facts, the arguments, or the defense of I-976 that the voters deserve, Eyman wrote.
On Wednesday, King County Superior Court Judge Marshall Ferguson temporarily blocked I-976 from taking effect, citing substantial concerns that the initiatives description on the ballot was misleading. Ferguson said he would file an emergency appeal with the State Supreme Court in hopes of getting the issue through in time for the initiative to go into effect on December 5 as originally planned.

You have to love the irony of a guy who can't (or deliberately won't) write an initiative that passes constitutional muster lecturing the Attorney General.

(20,998 posts)...this is not civics in action. This. is. greed. Eyman is in the business of floating initiatives. Many are PURPOSELY poorly written, ensuring that they will be blocked in the courts. Eyman uses this to his fundraising advantage.

Flipping chair thief thinks he's worthy, he's delusional if he thinks he'll be governor someday.

(20,998 posts)...moved there in May of 2001. His first $30 car tab initiative was a success and everyone I knew was talking about it. I did the research and discovered that YES, new car tabs were high, but because of the way WA state government was structured --and no state income tax-- the car tab funds were used for many transportation funding needs for the state. It was obvious that even if the car tab charges were too high, they served a purpose and need, and that needed to be addressed, which Eyman did not do. In fact, when this came to light and Eyman was asked about it, he commented that he didn't care and it wasn't his problem. Shortly thereafter, Eyman got caught with his hand in the initiative cookie jar. He claimed he made nothing off of his efforts and then we found out that Eyman and "paid" himself over $100,000. Eyman was then banned from being a treasurer or money man for any of his initiatives.
You are correct. Eyman is a grifter. A dangerous grifter.

He's beyond redemption.
