Patient at UW Medical Center tested for coronavirus, Sea-Tac Airport starts screening
SEATTLE Passengers on direct flights from China to Sea-Tac Airport will now be screened once they land for the potentially deadly coronavirus.
A patient admitted to the UW Medical Center Tuesday afternoon is being evaluated for possible coronavirus or another respiratory illness. UW health officials said the patient is in satisfactory condition and in appropriate isolation. The group is working with Public Health - Seattle & King County in order to determine the coronavirus test results in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The UW Medical Center said in a release it is unlikely the test will come back positive for coronavirus.
Now Sea-Tac Airport will become one of 20 airports across the country adding the extra screenings after five confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, including one in Snohomish County.
