Thurston County COVID-19 cases grow to 11, state says, plus total approaches 2,000 statewide

Washington state’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 rose to 1,996 Sunday and deaths increased to 95, the state Department of Health announced.

The state also reported that Thurston County now has 11 confirmed cases, although that wasn’t reflected in the county statistics Sunday.

Thurston County Public Health and Social Services announced two more cases on Saturday to give the area 10. The 10th confirmed case is a man in his 30s, the county data show.

Although more than 1,000 cases and 75 deaths have been reported in King County, South Sound has reported fewer cases and only one fatality. Pierce County leads the way with more than 100 cases, but only the one death, followed by Thurston with 11 cases, Lewis with 2, and Mason and Grays Harbor counties with one each.
