Kitsap isolation and quarantine center hosts first guests
Three people stayed at a quarantine and isolation center at the Pilgrim Firs Camp in Port Orchard last week, marking the facilitys first use since Kitsap County established the site in late March.
Pilgrim Firs one of two sites set up to temporarily house people who are homeless or otherwise cannot isolate themselves at home hosted two people starting on April 17 and another one on April 20. All three stayed through last Wednesday.
The site was expecting more two people on Thursday, according to a spokesperson for the Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center.
The center is designed to isolate people with COVID-19 or suspected cases, as well as quarantine those who may have been exposed to the virus. One person who stayed at Pilgrim Firs last week was isolated, while the other two were quarantined, according to Kitsap emergency officials. Two of the guests reported they were experiencing homelessness.
