Capitol Hill protest declared a riot after hours of peaceful demonstrations

A demonstration in Capitol Hill Monday night turned into a riot after hours of peaceful demonstrations, according to the Seattle Police Department.

An incident commander with the Seattle Police Department officially called the peaceful demonstration at Cal Anderson Park a riot.

Police said the crowd at Capitol Hill threw rocks, bottles and fireworks at officers. Protesters are trying to breach barricades one block from the East Precinct, police said.

Officers deployed pepper spray and tear gas Monday evening to quell the protesters.

Violent? Yeah, the police instigated and committed the violence.

A lot of protest violence is the police committing violence against protesters. I urge people to watch videos and use your own judgement on who is causing the violence.
