Seattle Aquarium to release 'The Kraken,' a giant Pacific octopus

Timely with Seattle's announcement to name the city's new NHL team "Seattle Kraken," the Seattle Aquarium is releasing a "Kraken" of its own.

The Aquarium recently announced the return of one of the Puget Sound's most iconic creatures to its exhibits — the giant Pacific octopus.

They welcome in two gargantuan octopuses — a 35-pound male named, of course, Kraken, and an accompanying partner weighing 1-2 pounds, cutely named Ink Jet.

With the arrival of the Seattle Kraken to the National Hockey League in 2021, the two giant octopuses officially arrived Wednesday, for some pre-season festivities.
