Local businesses closing due to 'hazardous' smoky air blanketing Seattle

The smoky haze smothering Seattle and Portland have earned those cities the worst air quality ranking in the world at the moment, and it’s only getting worse.

The foul air is now considered "very unhealthy" to "hazardous" in much of Western Washington. In Seattle, parks and some restaurants are closing because of the toxic air quality.

Normally it's a magnificent view where the main dining room at Ray's Boathouse looks out over the Sound. Now it is smothered by the haze and the air all around is unsafe to breathe.

“All of our business is pretty much on the deck right now because of the coronavirus," aid Kevin Murray, executive chef at Ray’s Boathouse. "To do the right thing we have to shut down."

I'm feeling very bad for the growers who have no market for their crop this weekend.
