Bremerton ferry service was cut in half one year ago. Riders are still waiting
For Manettes Eric Morley, Washington State Ferries dramatic service cuts on its Bremerton-Seattle run over the last year have resulted in some sizable life changes.
Morleys partner pivoted to taking Kitsap Transits fast ferry in to work in the city, but the more expensive fare means that more dollars are going to commuting. And now they dont spend evenings at bars or restaurants or at the theater in the city and have lost connections there. Morley has driven to Bainbridge Island for pickups when ferries get canceled or run late.
Hes very frequently home late from work, which has cut down on our social life, just times to have dinner and when we get to eat together, Morley said. We have literally lost friendships in Seattle, we dont see friends from Seattle anymore and dont speak to them.
Hes frustrated by what hes seen as a lack of action from legislators: "They're not even proposing any alternatives on how to make this better."
