BREMERTON, Wash. - Investigators searching for a missing 6-year-old girl have found the remains of a child in the mobile home park where the little girl was last seen, officials said.
"Today we have found what appears to be the remains of a child," Earl Smith of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said at a special media briefing.
He said the family of the missing girl, Jenise Wright, has been notified of the grim discovery. The child's remains will be turned over to the Kitsap County Coroner's Office for an autopsy that will identify the body and determine the cause of death.
No arrests have been made so far as the investigation continues, said Wright, who is incident commander for the search effort.

(8,554 posts)by including the dad's past criminal record of child molestation, I have an inkling that they already know what may have happened to her.

(8,311 posts).... quite a bit about how cooperative the family has been, including the Dad.
Also, articles have pretty much said that the allegations came out of a divorce, and that the younger child told someone she'd been told to say he'd abused her. At the same time, the same article says the same little girl said she told her mother about the abuse and was told if she said anything else she'd get a spanking (???!!!!????).
Of course, it's DailyMail. So who knows? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2718339/Revealed-Father-missing-Jenise-six-charged-child-molestation-8-year-old-accused-touching-inappropriately.html

(8,554 posts)so it's not just the DailyMail. The initial article reporting that the girl was found had only spoken about the intensive search they'd launched searching for her and that she was an outgoing little kid, but within a few hours they'd edited to add that whole story of the Whatcom Co. incident from 2000. It became an incriminating piece, to put it mildly.
KOMO4 just aired this morning's press conference and the sheriff again stressed that the parents were both fully cooperating. He said that whoever murdered her will have muddy clothes...pants, shirt, and shoes, and asked for anyone who had noticed such a person in the area to come forward.
I had to cry again when I heard that, she was just dumped in the muck, sweet little girl, dumped.

(108,212 posts)Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old male for the killing of 6-year-old Jenise Paulette Wright, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office announced Saturday afternoon.
The teen suspect is a resident of the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park where the little girl lived, said Kitsap County sheriff's Detective Earl Smith at a news conference Saturday afternoon. Authorities are not releasing his name because he is a minor.
Investigators with the state crime lab linked the suspect through forensic evidence, Smith said. Deputies and FBI agents arrested him at his home without incident.
The boy will be booked on suspicion of second-degree murder, manslaughter and rape, Smith said.
"We made a promise that we would bring justice to Jenise Wright and today we delivered on that promise," Smith said.
Police said they don't know if the suspect knew the girl's family but it's "likely" since the mobile home park is so small
