Many more people than I've seen before. I and many others had to park a mile or more from the site.
The caucuses were supposed to start at ten oclock. But because of the volume of people we didn't start till almost eleven.
Hopefully eight years from now we'll divide the caucus sites so we don't have the same problems.
Except for the walk most people seemed in good spirits and at least in my precinct there was no acrimony. What there was, was a lot of noise and you had to shout to be heard in the gym that held about 40 precincts.
Unfortunately for me the vote was 23 Sanders 3 Clinton all four of our delegates went to Sanders. So I didn't get the chance to be a delegate to the district convention.

(78 posts)Things on my end went off without a hitch. A little initial confusion and some trouble hearing the announcements from the caucus volunteers but for the most part it was a very pleasant experience. From the looks of it our caucus was overwhelmingly pro Bernie. I know our precinct total alone was something like 35 votes for Sanders and only 2 for Clinton.
Most of all I was very happy that I didn't see anything other than total respect for both candidates and their supporters. What a nice change from the Repug side.

(25 posts)My caucus held five precincts. My precinct had 12 voters, two of which where undecided. All 12 voted for Sanders at the end of our caucus. Only one precinct was split between Clinton/Sanders and Bernie took that one as well. From what i could see 4 precincts went 100% percent Bernie. I am now an official delegate for Bernie.

(135,425 posts)It's his demographic. I'd be surprised if HRC gets much of anything out of this caucus.

(28 posts)19 to 2 in favor of Bernie. Both delegates for Sanders, nothing but respect on all sides.

(1,820 posts)Sorry you won't be a delegate this year. Many next year!!! Is it fun to be a delegate? I have never understood that part of the elections....

(2,474 posts)But I generally only caucus during presidential election when there isn't a democrat in office.
So 2024 will be my next caucus.
There is lots of fun at the county and district conventions. You get to argue about the party platform and even sometimes make a difference, though it helps if you can shout pretty loudly.
You meet lots of interesting people such as a woman that had talked with Elenore Roosevelt. And of course the Senators, Governor and various other pols.

(10,558 posts)We had aprox. 300 folks show up, broke down to about 10 precincts. Nowhere did I notice anything other than Bernie signs, stickers and shirts. My precinct table had 31 members and when tally was counted we were 30 for Bernie and 1 for Hillary. Accdg. to our table chairperson, a single vote for Hillary qualified that person for the single delegate position which she accepted, while we got the remaining 4 delegates with 5 people volunteering for those positions.

(2,474 posts)You divide the number of people by the number of delegates. So 31 divided by 5 means to get one delegate you need at least 6.2 votes.
Pretty sure about that.

(10,558 posts)That a single vote for a candidate met a rule requiring that single delegate. Again, i do not know how this all works.

(142 posts)Why would Seattle's King county have the lowest Bernie percentages of any county in the state? Mid-sixties while all other Washington counties have between 70-80% Sanders. My Seattle district caucus went for Bernie by about 5 to 1. The 66% in King Co. makes no sense. What am I missing here?

(11 posts)and thus King County, where Democrats have been so successful, might have a greater
number of "don't rock the boat" types than other areas of the state.
