Washington
Related: About this forumHanford Site and living in the Tri-Cities
We currently are looking for our retirement home and we really love Washington. We ran up to Spokane and also stayed a few days in the Tri-Cities. After spending time in both locations, due to my limited driving abilities I'd like to see us retire and settle in the Tri-Cities. After returning home, I started googling on Hanford and was concerned about what I read. Here is a wiki on the Hanford site.

Anyone here live in the Tri-Cities? Would it be foolish to move to a location that is close to Hanford?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

(17,650 posts)...ice storms in the winter, dust storms in the summer. Not my fav place to visit. check out Ellensburg. Not as hot, but as windy...more snow and close to seattle and ski areas. No nuke site but more forested areas.

(14,560 posts)the weather extremes, blistering hot Summers and cold Winters on top of an entrenched Conservative climate, then being by a big river might be a positive.
We left nearly 50 years ago, but visit family there We didn't truly understand what it felt like to be away from such a Conservative mind set until we moved out of that environment.
As far as we know now, most of Eastern Washington is ultra Conservative.

(5,624 posts)I'm in iDaho now. Need dry climate, and want some dems. West coast is too wet. Also need good medical or less than 2 hrs away. I don't drive and hubby has health problems. Left Arizona in 2002and fear the water issues there so won't go back. Like the PNW. Ideas?

(243 posts)Spokane is considered the go-to major medical hub for everywhere east of Seattle and west of Montana. Hot summers and usually lots of snow in winter---it is billed as "a true 4-season climate". I lived there in the 90's.
