How Seattle-area stocks fared in a rough day on Wall Street

Seattle-based company stocks took a beating Wednesday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 1,500 points – the largest intraday drop in history.

The Dow rebounded slightly before closing down 1,175 points, or 4.6 percent, to to 24,342. The S&P 500 closed down 4.1 percent to nearly 2,649.

Boeing (NYSE: BA) took the largest hit among Washington's largest publicly traded companies, with a 5.7 percent drop to less than $329 per share.

A few Seattle-area stocks survived the fall, buoyed by recent acquisition deals.
Bellevue-based IT management software company Apptio's (Nasdaq: APTI) stock climbed 2.7 percent to more than $26 per share.
