Active shooter search along SR 509 near Sea-Tac Airport
Washington State Patrol is searching for an active shooter in an area near the Sea-Tac Airport after four vehicles were fired upon traveling on State Route 509. A second burst of gunfire has been reported since the initial incident.
The shooter remains at large.
The four cars were hit by bullets at around 1:30 p.m. near Des Moines Memorial Drive and South 160th Street, at the south end of Sea-Tac Airport. Both directions of SR 509 have been closed. WSP is investigating the active shooter incident and is recommending that drivers stay away from the area. A SWAT team from Renton has been called to the site along with K-9 units. King County Sheriffs Guardian One helicopter is in the air above the scene.
About 30-35 minutes ago there were additional shots fired, Trooper Rick Johnson said at around 3:50 p.m.
Johnson said investigators are talking with witnesses and working to clarify the timeline of events.
