Opponents of I-74 reach a new low

Opponents of marriage equality of reached a new low. They have been calling voters in Washington who support marriage equality and lying to them, telling them they need to reject Ref. 74 in order to allow same-sex marriage.

Leave it to the fanatical right to try and throw dirt in our comrades' eyes in the middle of a fight. When I get back to Washington, I'll have an ear-full to give anyone who tries to push that trash through my phone lines.

I have used domestic partnership here in wa to provide insurance to my live in boyfriend in past years...would this eliminate that option? Seems like an unfortunate trade off....

or am i confused? (I hope I am lol)

This bill allows same-sex couples to marry, applies marriage laws without regard to gender, and specifies that laws using gender-specific terms like husband and wife include same-sex spouses. After 2014, existing domestic partnerships are converted to marriages, except for seniors. It preserves the right of clergy or religious organizations to refuse to perform or recognize any marriage or accommodate wedding ceremonies. The bill does not affect licensing of religious organizations providing adoption, foster-care, or child-placement.

Provided that one was already in a registered domestic partnership. At least that's the way I read it.
