Amazon contributes $3M for Seattle U's new science and innovation center
Amazon has invested $3 million in Seattle University for the school's new Center for Science and Innovation.
The five-story, 111,000-square-foot building will include a computer science space called Project Center, which will be named for Amazon. It's where computer science majors who are seniors will work with industry partners on solutions to real-world problems.
The gift follows a $3 million commitment that Microsoft made earlier this year to the center. Last fall, the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust gave the university $1.75 million for the center. The university is raising $100 million, the majority of the project's cost, from private contributors.
The center will create what the university said will be "a dramatic new entry" to the campus at 12th Avenue and East Marion Street.
