Gov. Walker: Wisconsin is left behind in the dust

By Bill Kaplan

..........Former Wisconsin GOP Gov. Tommy Thompson, a conservative with a heart, had made the state Medicaid-BadgerCare program the envy of the nation with its generous eligibility. But Walker's "plan" takes Wisconsin backward:

* After the Supreme Court upheld the ACA, Walker stomped his feet saying "Wisconsin will not take any action to implement Obamacare" (ACA);

* Rejected a federally funded state-run health insurance exchange;

* Turned thumbs down to Medicaid expansion with its generous infusion of federal spending, health coverage for thousands and health care jobs.

Instead, Walker's "plan" is throwing nearly 80,000 Wisconsinites off Medicaid, and with the help of a letter and a phone call, telling them to find their way to the federal exchange. Many will enroll and be eligible for ACA federal tax credits, thanks to the heroic efforts of groups like the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families. But Sen. Baldwin rightly said rejecting federal Medicaid funds will result in higher state spending, burden the poor with out-of-pocket costs, many of whom will fall between the cracks, risking worse health outcomes. (Walker has "promised" that other poorer Wisconsinites will be allowed to apply for Medicaid). What to make of all these political machinations?

Walker has cool and calculating smarts. However, he lacks compassion, empathy or heartfelt expression for regular folks. When Ohio GOP Gov. John Kasich expanded Medicaid he got emotional talking about helping the disabled, poor and sick. Not Walker. It's all about his political ambitions and pleasing the Tea Party. Wisconsin is being left behind in the dust.

... are going to propel him to the Presidency.

Punishing the weak and poor is his stock-in-trade. His base loves it, cheering and firing guns in the air everytime he takes food from poor children or healthcare from the infirm.

One nitpick with the article. Walker does no lack "heartfelt expression for regular folks". He has great disdain for them. As we learned from the secret emails his staff sent, he even sneers at his base behind their backs.

Remember, this man's closest friend stole money from a Veteran's Widow and Children fund. He is lower than the muck at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

care reform. Walker kicked him off Badgercare. He falls in the 100% poverty level and 133% level of #aca. He has worked manual hard labor most of his life-only 53 yr old now but built silo's -carrying and moving those cement blocks--and roofing. Anyway, his knees and back are shot and was un-insurable and not able to work much. He does work the night shift at develpmental delay group home. He has a boy age 13. Walker sent him to #aca and he got the lowest level with a subsidy He won't even consider blaming Walker for anything. I do not understand him and just give up even trying.

It was never his intention to serve the people of Wisconsin. It's all about his ambition, and he's too arrogant to understand he doesn't have a chance of winning a presidential election. I do hope he tries though, it would be a hoot to watch him make a damn fool of himself in front of the entire country.
