Personally, I think we should make him run for office in his district, just to see how far we can get with a Progressive candidate running on Progressive issues. The only danger to him, of course, is that he might win.
But the real idea behind this is to do exit polling to see if a genuinely progressive campaign can get us any closer to a win in a deep-red district. I'm thinking of a multivariate study with a quasi-experimental design. We could compare how certain demographic groups respond--for example, do college students in his Senate district come out in larger numbers for a Progressive agenda in contrast to other areas of the state, etc.?
Why not use some of these deep-red areas as campaign test beds?

He would make an intelligent, well-spoken candidate--this may well sink him with the Repubs.
