Related: About this forumWalker 56% - Burke 40%
With the just released Wisconsin Public Radio - St. Norbert poll showing Walker with a 59% approval rating and a 56% to 40% lead over Burke, I think it's time to take a serious look at our options. Burke never seemed totally committed to this race and she lacks the political skills to turn this around, imho. And she doesn't exactly inspire- how many Burke bumper stickers have you seen?
Tate screwed up big time with his fantasy of a completely untested but self funding candidate. I just can't see Burke winning in November. She's sinking and the Republican attack hasn't even started. The election is far enough away that there is still time for someone else to enter the race- someone with experience, someone who can inspire, someone who can win. If we're going to lose with Walker-lite, why not run a real Democrat. If we lose, at least we die on our feet and not our knees. We elected Baldwin, after all.

(6,262 posts)Burke is a horrible candidate. I am so disappointed we are blowing this chance to get rid of Weasel Walker.

It seems that one of the biggest concerns regarding Vinehout as a candidate is her "voice"???
Sheesh.

Yes, I definitely remember Kathleen's voice giving out on her during the Recall primary campaign. Maybe she needs a voice coach & a microphone.

(5,075 posts)I think that is a good thing but some people don't get past the surface.
She identifies better with out-state people than Walker. She certainly could show some major differences between herself and Walker, something Burke may be less able to do.
She's a fighter too. Not a CEO-type but more of a from-the-people leader.
I wonder if it is the money or the injury that is keeping her out. Probably just the Party ignoring her and pushing Burke's money on us.

(8,879 posts)It makes me dislike her and she's on my team. I follow her on Facebook and defend her often, but the pukes, and I believe that is paid pukes are nonstop. They're the first people to respond to her every status update and they hit her hard and mercilessly. She gets a smattering of defenders but she simply doesn't currently generate enough enthusiasm to best the republican hate. We need another candidate. Shame on the WI Democratic Party for throwing their support behind her for the wrong reasons and before they knew what they had. It was a terrible miscalculation. Terrible.

(85 posts)I think we just need to talk about the lousy state of the Wisconsin Economy. If we attach Walker we are attaching the Cult of Personality. People might connect the lousy state of the Economy with Walker. The problem is we are losing young people in this state because economic potential is so much greater elsewhere.

(85 posts)If Democrats want to try to appease the electorate that make up this poll we will lose every election! Remember this state has been Blue since 88. We need have a broad diverse coalition and expand the electorate. If 57% in this poll think Wisconsin is on the right track we probably want to look elsewhere for our voters.
