Related: About this forumPaul Fanlund: So, do we like what Scott Walker has made us into?
http://host.madison.com/news/local/writers/paul_fanlund/paul-fanlund-so-do-we-like-what-scott-walker-has/article_ce929eac-8373-5308-b10b-5183dc88b505.html#ixzz30qlJ4RIHIn January, a statewide poll asked respondents which tax they would most like reduced.
At 41.6 percent, the property tax was the top villain, considerably more unpopular than income and sales taxes. Respondents were then asked if they favor paying higher sales taxes to reduce property taxes. Some 55.6 percent said no to that prospect. But when asked if property taxes could be cut by increasing income taxes on those making $250,000 or more, nearly two thirds 64.3 percent were on board in the Marquette University Law School poll.
While the public strongly backs higher income taxes on upper incomes, do you think Gov. Scott Walker would ever stand for even modest increases on the highest compensated among us, many of whom make up his core Republican constituency, his most ardent fans and biggest donors?
Right, when pigs fly.
If Democrat Mary Burke is to defeat Walker this fall, she will need to define the incumbent for what he is, which is nothing like the blue-jeaned everyman of his campaign visuals.
Walker is, quite simply, a self-absorbed pawn of the wealthy.
