http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/02/walker-the-recall-costs-money----think-of-the-children-and-seniors.phpGov. Scott Walker (R-WI) appeared Monday on Morning Joe, discussing the upcoming recall election against him by the state Democrats and organized labor. And among other things, he said, the recall is only hurting children and seniors by costing money.
MSNBCs Willie Geist asked Walker: You find yourself in the middle of this, mired in a recall election. The latest Marquette poll has you 47 approve, 47 percent disapproves, split right down the middle in the state of Wisconsin. This could be a long fight for you a special election scheduled to take place in June, a primary in May. How distracted are you from doing the business of Wisconsin by trying to essentially win re-election in the middle of your term? (Note: The May and June dates are not yet officially declared by state election officials, but are the likely outcome of the administrative process.)
Well, were focused, Walker responded, but its a huge distraction, not just for me, for the legislature. I mean, its $9 million of taxpayers money just to run this. Think about the number of kids we could help, think of the number of seniors we could help in our state with $9 million that we didnt have to waste on this this frivolous recall election.

(28,498 posts)I like how she claims the money for the recall might have already allocated for "merit raises for teachers, or health care for the poor, or school books for your kids"
Yeah, like these dolts had this in mind when they went after the unions and working people!

(25,699 posts)Funds have already been set aside for the groups you speak of. The state treasury is not like a petty cash drawer, where you just pull out a wad of bills and spend where you think it needs spending at the moment. It's compartmentalized. It's allocated. That's what the state budget is about. While I'm sure your supporters are stupid enough to think the treasury is just some sort of slush fund free-for-all (after all, it's kind of how you used the discretionary portions of the budget) most Wisconsiners aren't so easily fooled. All you do with this argument is make a stronger case for throwing you out of office.
So... Carry on.

(27,985 posts)is far greater. This undertaking is the biggest investment in the future of our state and families we can make.
It would take more than 7 recall elections to equal the cost of Walker's tax increase on seniors and working families. It would take more than 11 recalls to equal the tuition hike Walker foisted on University of Wisconsin-System students and their families. And Walker's $2.3 billion in tax giveaways to out-of-state corporations and the super-rich would pay for more than 255 recall elections.
Wisconsin simply cannot afford Scott Walker any longer.
