NW Milwaukee residents sent misinformation on voter ID being required...

More information chaos...supposedly because of advance time involved in putting together a newsletter to constituents and getting it into the mail...

Supervisor's newsletter mistakenly says photo ID is needed Tuesday
By Georgia Pabst of the Journal Sentinel
Oct. 31, 2014

About 7,000 voters who live on the northwest side were mistakenly sent information telling them they needed a photo ID to vote in Tuesday's election, Milwaukee County Supervisor Deanna Alexander said Friday.

Her newsletter was prepared and sent to the printer before the Oct. 9 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that put the state's voter ID law on hold, Alexander said Friday. The mailing provided information on the county budget, along with information on Tuesday's election. Residents received them last weekend.

"After the newsletter was sent to print and mailed, the Supreme Court intervened and I have been diligently working to correct that information," Alexander said.

A postcard is going out that tells voters in her district they don't need photo ID at the polls and the correct information is on her Facebook page and website, she said, noting, "It was a miscommunication."

Same thing happened in my suburban community.

The village newsletter had a big bold asterisked ***warning*** that ID would be needed at the polls. They did send a little postcard with the correction (that ID will not be needed) a week or so later.

Before the Supreme Court's decision to stop photo ID for this election, a local progressive group had printed up 75,000 cards to hand out in the city of Milwaukee. They got out their markers and crossed out the line about ID on every single one. Why couldn't Deanna Alexander find a few Republicans to do the same on her 7,000 newsletters? Why couldn't Dan Sebring, perennial candidate running against Gwen Moore, correct the ID statement on his lit drop piece (on both sides of the card)? I do think our side would make the changes if the positions were reversed.

Let's find out if her postcards are actually sent and get there before election day. I wouldn't bet on it.
