Need a top-to-bottom revision of the leadership.
Interesting observation locally
Clark County which is crazy Republican.....voted in FAVOR of both the minimum wage and badgercare referendum questions...
but
Democratic Candidates got only 37-39% of the vote..
Same in Wood County .....our folks turned out but they apparently didn't vote for the Democratic candidates AND in the case of Clark County...the heavy duty republicans voted clearly against their own interests...they want higher minimum wage and badgercare expansion but didn't seem to understand that by voting a straight Republican ticket, they will NEVER GET EITHER..
MIND BOGGLING!!!!!
on edit...
Mary Burke lost Wood County 57-43% but the referendum issues passed by over 60%... what..the...hell...happened?

(8,209 posts)Add that to the fact that Obama won the state twice and Walker 3 times and the math does not add up.

(8,526 posts)I don't understand their thinking, but they exist in startling numbers. They will vote for Tommy Thompson and Russ Feingold on the same ballot. They will vote for President Obama and a vapid tool like Sean Duffy on the same ballot.
Some of it boils down to messaging. You'll notice that both Feingold and Obama were unafraid to defend Democratic ideals. Talking a stand and defending it works here.
Unfortunately, third way politics loses every time.

(8,526 posts)We had the const amendment, a voter id question and a badgercare question. The county board pres refused to put a minimum wage question on the agenda so it never made it to the ballot.
If someone is reporting a min sage redult for Clark, they have it wrong.

(8,526 posts)At the county clerk's website or at Citizen Action of WI where they were monitoring and reporting all the Badgercare Referenda results.
It won in Clark, BTW.

(2,960 posts)I'm thinking that State Senate race to replace Schultz. A carpetbagger brought in to run against the local established Dem in the primary. That was a doable pickup.
Wisconsin Republicans love Mike Tate, chuckle every time he's re-elected Chair.
