Differences between Wisconsin, Minnesota spark two of last week's most-read stories

Wisconsin and Minnesota have gone in different directions since the neighboring states elected governors from different schools of thought in 2010, Cap Times editor emeritus Dave Zweifel wrote in a Plain Talk column last Wednesday.
Citing an editorial by the La Crosse Tribune, Zweifel wrote that Wisconsin under Republican Gov. Scott Walker hasn't enjoyed the resurgence that Minnesota has under Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton.
"Forbes ranks Minnesota as the ninth-best state for business, No. 7 in economic climate and No. 2 in quality of life. Wisconsin is ranked 32nd, 27th and 17th in the same categories," he wrote. "And while Scott Walker is facing a $2 billion deficit, Minnesota has a $1.2 billion surplus.
The story was the most-read item on captimes.com last week, but it wasn't the only comparison of Wisconsin and Minnesota to make the top-10 list.................
