RIB MOUNTAIN - Rib Mountain is suing to prevent Marathon County from changing the town's addresses.
The Marathon County Board voted in February 2016 to establish a uniform addressing system throughout the county, with the goal of making it easier for law enforcement and emergency crews to locate facilities throughout the region. Board members set aside $1.2 million to help municipalities implement the change.
Towns in the county have to participate in the new system, but cities and villages are not required to implement the change. The proposal encountered resistance from some businesses and homeowners who don't want to change their addresses.
Rib Mountain filed its complaint Wednesday, town attorney Kevin Terry said at a Friday press conference. The town is asking the court to prevent Marathon County from implementing the uniform addressing system ordinance and asks the judge to rule the county has exceeded its authority by passing the ordinance.

(3,975 posts)Texas, nice of you to keep us in the loop. It pains me so to see the USA turning into WI. We have suffered for 7 years with complete R control and cheating..Yesterday with the Judge, our once great country now has all 3 branches locked up, like us.

I sympathize with the 7 years of GOP rule in Wisconsin. Texas has been under Republican control for more than 20 years. I do not have even one Democrat representing me in any capacity. Every official in my county is GOP. My state senator and state representative are GOP. My governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, speaker of the Texas House, Texas Supreme Court justices, U.S. congressional representative, two senators, every statewide elected office in Texas are Republicans. Now my president is a Republican. I was raised to have a respect for government and recognize its value to society, but it is extremely difficult for me to feel that way now that everyone in office is set to destroy society instead.
