ASHWAUBENON - An 18-year-old Ashwaubenon man was arrested twice Sunday on suspicion of two separate OWIs. The incidents happened within just hours of each other.
The first occurred at 4:20 a.m., when officers were called to the 2100 Block of South Broadway after a vehicle crashed into a light pole. There they arrested the teen on suspicion of first offense drunken driving. He told authorities he was coming home from a graduation party. He was released to a woman who signed an agreement to not allow the teen to drive, according to an Ashwaubenon Public Safety news release.
However, he was arrested a second time about 7 a.m. when an officer working a traffic detail near Ashwaubomay Park recognized him from the earlier arrest. He was stopped and arrested for second offense OWI, and taken to the Brown County jail where he is being held for felony bail jumping.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety Capt. Jody Crocker said the woman to whom the teen was released could be charged with obstructing law enforcement.

(2,050 posts)THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY.
A local boy around 16-17 years old got three DUI's in one day.
Driving a 1967-68 Firebird, got pulled over for drunk driving, in those days they called your parents and sent you home.
He later got back in his car and was arrested again, the car was then impounded, he broke in to the yard and drove off again.
He was pulled over in front of a local community hall where a dance was being held for teenagers, I saw the third arrest, it was already well known he'd been arrested twice before that day.
I still wonder how hard they slapped his hand for that day.

(460 posts)19 years ago I left Wisconsin, and the only thing I miss is family and friends. There were more bars than churches, and people made jokes about excessive drinking and drunk driving. It seemed to be great sport to get hammered. Every state has drinkers, bars, and drunk drivers, but Wisconsin celebrates binge drinking and driving drunk. The collage towns in Wisconsin used to take great pride in the amount of alcohol consumed by the students. On recent visits, I have seen some change, but not a lot. The boozing tarnishes the image of "Beautiful Wisconsin".
