State Dems decry Ryan, GOP efforts to repeal Obamacare

State Democratic lawmakers have harsh words for Republicans — most notably U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Janesville.

Eleven state legislators gathered in Kenosha on Monday to criticize Ryan, the nation’s third-highest ranking Republican, who represents Kenosha County, for his dearth of local town hall meetings.

The Democrats also derided conservatives for their “attacks on women’s health care” and efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) during a public listening session at UAW Local 72.

“We know that the (Republican) plan that’s currently in Washington that the House passed would be a disaster in terms of cuts to Medicare. We need to fight that,” said state Rep. Tod Ohnstad, D-Kenosha.
