Related: About this forumThis can't be good.......Ryan challenger, Bryce, bought twitter followers.
The Republican side of Wisconsin's political divide shouted Saturday that Democrat Randy Bryce was a phony after reading in The New York Times that the ironworker paid money a few years ago to gain Twitter followers.
The Times' story refers to Bryce only once among many examples of celebrities, athletes, pastors, models, politicians and even reality television stars who have purchased Twitter followers from an obscure American company named Devumi.
"Devumi sells Twitter followers and retweets to celebrities, businesses and anyone who wants to appear more popular or exert influence online," according to the Times. The story reported: "While Twitter and other platforms prohibit buying followers, Devumi and dozens of other sites openly sell them."

(14,961 posts)It wasn't him. It will definitely be problematic. I don't understand why he would do it, I assume with Trump it's an ego thing, but Iron Stache had thousands of followers, I am one of them.

Bloggers/vloggers have been doing this for years to increase traffic to their sites. They even post about how it works.
Now if he is continuing to buy virtual popularity and interest on social media to pad interest in his campaign, I might have a problem with it.

The Republican side of Wisconsin's political divide shouted Saturday that Democrat Randy Bryce was a phony after reading in The New York Times that the ironworker paid money a few years ago to gain Twitter followers.............................
..........Here is the sentence that set the GOP atwitter: "Randy Bryce, an ironworker seeking to unseat Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, purchased Devumi followers in 2015, when he was a blogger and labor activist."
The timing is before his campaign against Ryan. Bryce, a U.S. Army veteran and union ironworker, is challenging Ryan's bid for re-election Nov. 6 in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District. Bryce has an opponent in the Democratic primary in August, Cathy Myers, a Janesville School Board member.
Bryce, a Caledonia Democrat, goes by @IronStache on Twitter. The account says it has 216,000 followers.
"Back in 2015, Randy spent about $10-$20 to buy 1,000 to 1,500 followers," said Lauren Hitt, a spokeswoman for the Bryce campaign. "He was trying out blogging at the time.
