More Evers promises limited by Republican opposition

Gov. Tony Evers campaigned on promises that he’d bring a new perspective and new priorities to the state’s highest office after eight years under Republican Scott Walker.

He’s had almost a year in office to push that agenda, but Evers has so far found little traction in a divided state government. The Republican Legislature stripped out numerous policy initiatives from his budget, and the Evers-O-Meter reflects that.

We’ve rated 23 of Evers’ 27 promises at this point, and 12 of those are rated as Stalled — meaning nothing much has happened yet but he still has time to act. We’ve also rated four campaign pledges as Promise Kept, three as In the Works and two each as Promise Broken and Compromise.

This time around we’re updating ratings on gun control, lead testing and prevailing wages.
