It has been said "That all politics is local".

It has been said "that all politics is local".

But one only needs to look at the overwhelming influx of out of state money and the boost it has given to Scott Walker's campaign to see that this is no longer true.

Sure, the national unions might come through at the last minute and start spending money. But the unions represent middle class Wisconsinites. People that live pay check to pay check.

Walker's donors are in large part millionaires, even billionaires and their huge corporations. They are waiting like carpet baggers to swoop in and reap the harvest of the anti-labor seeds that Walker has sown.

Follow the money, pick your side.

Word out of both camps is there is very, very few undecided voters out there. It's why the main focus has already turned to getting GOTV efforts in top gear.

It's also why I'm having a hard time understanding the criticism from some about the lack of funds coming in from the national level. Most of that money would be spent on TV ads, mailers, and such. But, there just aren't that many people to swing by doing that. This is not your usual election with fresh faces and unknown policy stances. This has been about in your face issues that have been out in the open for over a year, and that are very polarizing.

The national groups have responded with a lot of people for the GOTV drive, and I think that is what is going to be the most effective. Money has been coming in as well, but there's still criticism it's not enough. There is no way we're ever going to be able to match Koch ALEC Inc. dollar for dollar so why bother. IMO, at this point, make sure the GOTV effort is fully funded and operating smoothly, screw the expensive ad buys, and make sure we turn out every one of our voters. Show the rich corps they can't come in and buy our state, and that grassroots, local activism by the citizenry still decides elections.

Today I received a call from the DPW about raising funds for the election coming up. I said I already donated to the Barrett Campaign itself but I was happy that they finally called about it and are active in seeking out people to contribute. Probably a lot of potential Dems individual contributions are down because of the affects of Act 10 but I admit it would have been nice to see the DNC as involved as the RNC. Hopefully we can win by people knowing what Scott Walker stands for and their votes trump campaign cash.
