After Vos cancels subpoenas against Wisconsin mayors in Gableman investigation, case dropped

The case, filed in Waukesha County, was dismissed in its entirety on Monday. On Friday, Vos withdrew subpoenas that required a number of Wisconsin mayors to testify in the Gableman inquiry.

Gableman had sought to imprison the mayors of Madison, Green Bay and Racine for failing to comply with the subpoenas. The officials had said they would only testify publicly, but Gableman wanted the testimony to be private.

In a statement Monday, Rhodes-Conway said it’s time for the state to move on from the investigation.

“The end of the Gableman reign of error is ten months late and a million dollars short,” she said. “Wisconsin residents are appalled at the enormous waste of taxpayer money and the damage caused by this sham investigation. From the start it was a partisan, fact-free and incompetent effort. We expect better from legislative leaders and attorneys working on their behalf. We can finally move on from the 2020 election but make no mistake, our democracy was damaged by this effort.”

Gableman had put himself at odds in recent weeks with the Assembly speaker who had hired him, even endorsing Vos’ primary opponent in a race that was decided by fewer than 300 votes. After winning the primary, Vos called Gableman “an embarrassment” and fired him shortly thereafter, a move that put Vos up against conservative members of his own party, including former President

investigation right from the start. This “investigation” was reminiscent of Skippy Walker’s Foxconn fiasco. - costing the taxpayers of Wisconsin untold millions of dollars for Foxconn infrastructure that to this day is undefined, barely utilized and one which forced many from their homes by imminent domain.

13,000 promised jobs? My ass! The improved freeway and additional lanes going down the I94 corridor is appreciated, but prior to that, there was never any money to upgrade road projects that floundered for years. Poof! The money materialized.

Yup. This is the Republican way. Fiscally responsible my butt. My question is, who benefitted from this mess? Could some of it have been siphoned to TFG for helping push it through?

In either case, Skippy is history, but the useless Republican state legislators roll on, gerrymandered into oblivion and not giving one shit about how stupid they look day by day by day by day by day ………………

Peace to all.
