PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (WISN/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) - Escaped dairy cows unleashed chaos in a neighborhood Wednesday.

It happened in Port Washington, a subdivision in Wisconsin, the Dairy State.

The scene of an unexpected rodeo brought neighbors outside, shocked by the herd of cows which had moved in on their yards.

"We were in our backyard when the cows came stampeding down the hill, and they were moving because there's a pretty good vertical drop there. And it, you know, it was like the bulls at Pamplona or something like that," resident Mick Maier told WISN.

Our neighbor's cows got out one below-zero January morning while they were at church. They were standing in the middle of the road realizing they couldn't go anywhere else because the ditches were full of snow.

Since my SO and I were pretty familiar with handling cows thanks to growing up on and around them, the two of us managed to convince the cows to get back into the barn. We locked them in, then went to our family event.

Neighbors eventually figured out it was us who put them back and they have been bringing us pies, veggies from their garden, and more in the decades since.

We live in the middle of nowhere, though, so that didn't make the news in the least.

Subdivision in Wisconsin? Such a great description describing where it is located.

At a minimum should have stated it is located off of Lake Michigan north of Milwaukee.
