Wisconsin: My predictions for tomorrow.

In the 16 months since Scott Walker was sworn in as Governor of Wisconsin, there has been a sea change here, an awakening of the decent, honest People who simply refused to allow his raping of our State continue. They may have joined the fray because of Walker's attack on collective bargaining, or his attacks on education, healthcare, women's rights or perhaps the environment. Or maybe it was the corruption that caused them to see the light.

But see the light they have. They know what this fight is about. They know that the right wing is trying to use Wisconsin as yeast for their awful infection. They're trying to dismantle democracy, and it's plain as your face.

They have made it harder to work, harder to get healthcare, harder to educate your children, harder to care for your parents.

They have made it harder to vote.

They have, with supreme arrogance, flaunted their ugliness.

While the outcome of this historic event is uncertain, I will stick my neck out on the following:

---There will some kind of election screwup in Waukesha, Washington or Outagamie County, despite the best efforts of PeaceNikki and others.

---There will be incidents of voter intimidation and ugliness in Milwaukee, and elsewhere in the State.

---Democrats will win two or more of the four State Senate seats up for grabs, giving them control of that chamber (only one win is needed).

---Tom Barrett will beat Scott Walker with a nice margin. The "free press" will be shocked. Walker will cry foul and try to tie things up as long as he can. In the end, he will be out on his ass, awaiting indictment.

Thanks to each and every one of you who has helped in large or small ways. The good People of Wisconsin appreciate your support.
Together, we are making this happen.

Scuba

For the life of me, I can't understand why it's even close. Yeah, there's obviously a ton of money that the Right is spending, marianating the Wisconscin electorate in their anti-Democratic propaganda. But that very influx of money ought to be reason enough for the bottom 95% there to understand that the Wisc. Republican Party is not working in their interests. I truly hope that Democrats/progressives/liberals/Independents are energized and can send these criminals an overwhelming message that the Republican agenda for this country stops in Wisconsin.

You are ABSOLUTELY correct, Old and in the Way.. (LOL... I AM old, and in the way...)
I don't understand why the recall effort isn't 20 - 30 points ahead..??!!
BIG MONEY has had that much influence, I guess....
Sad, really sad. If walker wins, we'll NEVER here the end of it.
And that will be just the beginning of a nationwide campaign against unions, women, minorities, etc.
(as if that hasn't STARTED already....??!!)
I can't believe President Obama hasn't shown up there....??!!
Well, maybe we'll pull it out, anyway....
GOOD LUCK WISCONSIN RECALL SUPPORTERS...!!!!!

Too many Americans have been conditioned to see themselves as consumers rather than citizens, I guess. If you're a consumer, the interests of wealth impresses you because for a consumer money=power; if you're a citizen, the interests of the commonwealth defines who you are and voting with others to support the common good=power.

Walker wins: "Embattled governor Scott Walker was victorious in a vicious battle which nearly destroyed his tenure ..."

Scott Walker is the Tea Party rock star. Similar to Obama four years ago.

This election is not so much Walker vs Barrett, but more like Walker vs. Anyone-But-Walker. Similar to 2004 when it was Bush vs ABB, and we know how that turned out.

Mon Jun 4, 2012, 10:43 PM
Jun 2012

I lived in Wisconsin for over 20 years. The way to change things in Wisconsin is to shut down the hate talkers like butthead Belling and Charlie "the adulterer" Sikes.
My union brothers would listen to those clowns and believe every lie they spewed out. The also loved druggie limbaugh.

I was an active supporter of progressive Democrats in Wisconsin. I left when Wanker was elected. I believe actions by the conservanazis in Waukesha County gave Wanker the election.

Good luck, Wisconsin. If Barrett loses, the criminal Wanker will unleash more conservanzis plans to destroy all your jobs.

Hey, don't look at me. I have never, ever voted for a conservanazi. I support Democratic candidates, but not the Democratic National Party.

Now you see why. The party wouldn't help Barrett or the people of Wisconsin. A f*ckin' shame.

Tue Jun 5, 2012, 12:18 AM
Jun 2012

Unfortunately, I think it's Walker by three points. A narrower victory than 2010. But, I've been pleasantly surprised before. I didn't think 540,000 sigs would be collected after a one year wait (we got 950,000). So who knows what happens Tuesday?

but I am not sure Barrett will win by a wide margin. I believe he can; I just do not feel that confident he will. I think maybe a 3 point margin. But absolutely nothing would surprise me, even a 7 to 10 point margin.

I don't know why, but I have been thinking the Dems would win two of the contests and retake control. I believe this will happen, and that alone would be magnificent because if we are wrong about a Barrett win, just taking two of those Republican seats can change the control factor.

So I will end praying you are correct, and I do hope your thoughts about the margin of a Barrett win are correct, and that my statement is no so much so....

Contact with reality, however bitter, is preferable to the sweetness of dreams – the chances that Walker will lose today (I am writing this at 9am Pacific Time) are almost nil. It is more important to understand why Walker will win than to lament the consequences. The American culture is much more in line with the far right than most find it comfortable to admit. More on this later.

My "rationality" is the price of futures contracts that favor Walker by more than 10 to 1. As for conservatives being happier, this is because they live in a society where they are the majority and feel accepted and respected, and their brains don't get in the way of their emotions.

HUGE lines in my small city. I have never waited to vote here, not even for a Presidential election. Milwaukee is calling for more ballots and poll workers. 80% turnout expected in Dane County. I'm usually about #15-30 when I vote. Today, I was #199 with an enormous line out the door and into the parking lot as we exited. Poll workers were handed a medium sized box with absentee ballots to start "when there was down-time". The man who handed them to the workers said there were many more boxes to come. Wow.
